Bright Gems Offer

Bright Gems for His Crown book

The Bright Gems book is once again priced down for the summer with free shipping as well. While our little home business is in fact winding down and will eventually be no more, we will still be offering this book, the one product which has generated the most interest through the years. Teaching children the love of Jesus and how to live in a way that pleases Him is timeless, so hopefully this book will be as well. It still seems many folk use it for family devotions with their various aged children and while this was not the original intent, it's surely fine with me! If you see this post and know anyone who may be interested, please pass this information on. Thanks! (Click on the picture caption above to go to the product page.)

Bright Gems for His Crown Special Offer

So once again we're making this offer at our social media places so that folks who encounter us online may take advantage of the pricing we usually offer to churches and Christian organizations. Hop over and take advantage. Some years ago, we sold loads of this book and it was highly popular in several circles. It was initially designed to be used as a personal devotional by primary children, but we've gotten lots of reports back from folks using it as a family devotional. We still have quite a few copies of the book, but probably won't be reprinting it so get it now if you'd like to have it in your home, or give to your grandchildren in their home, or to your church library even. You could probably still get it at Amazon and other places, but not at this price and not from the original Christian publisher (us at SG).

We'll continue to post the prayers based on the character traits that are encouraged in the book. We post these from time to time at our Facebook page so keep an eye out for them. And please follow us on Facebook if you don't already!

Kisses and Hugs,
Nanna Maxine

Waiting for Spring

Spring is coming, you can be sure. The Lord promised the seasons would continue to cycle. Speaking of cycles. This picture not only promises the coming of spring but introduces yet another cycle of the Bright Gems prayers at the Facebook page. Because of time constraintsm I do more posting there than anywhere else, so please make sure you follow us there if you haven't yet. Link to that page is over on the left. Keep trusting, this winter will be over by and by.

Lovingly,
Nanna Maxine

Hello, December!

Well, here we go. We all know what December brings and what it's like. Mainly for us and the point of this post is to mention that we've started the cycle of Bright Gems prayers again at the Facebook page. This time, for the winter months, we have this cute snowman hiding behind the prayers. I hope folks will join in with us in praying for our children and grandchildren. God bless you this month and always.

Blessings,
Nanna Maxine

Bright Gems Prayers

Total we started our SIXTH cycle of the Bright Gems Prayers at the Facebook page. It's hard to believe we've been through them that many times but we have. And we'll keep on until the Lord somehow let's us know we need to stop. Even though I do the posting and wrote the prayers, I say "we" because there's a sense in which these prayers are shared by quite a few of us. They don't have a huge number of people who have a particular regard for them, but there are a few who use them as reminders and who I do believe join in with some or all of them. So, hence, I say this is a plural thing. And I'm so very thankful. Above is Day 1 of Month 1 of the three months in the new format just started today. I hope the words written here are your prayer too.

Many blessings to your household,

Nanna Maxine

Bright Gems Offer extended

Well, happily for customers, not only has the regular price for the Bright Gems for His Crown book been reduced, perhaps forever, but the special offer for our online friends has also been reduced and extended. Here's the direct link for folks which can be only accessed via Facebook, Pinterest, and this blog. Take advantage here. Not only does this book teach your kids character qualities, but at the same time there's mixed in the doctrines about God and Jesus which we all hold dear. Your older primaries can use it for personal devotions or you can use it for family devotions with all the ages, including the younger ones. This is apparently what quite a few families do.

God bless and do spread the word.

Helping and Working

See? You're never too young to be a helper. Remember the daily Bright Gems prayers at the Facebook page? Well, since they're based on the devotions in the book, naturally today's was about helping, with a particular emphasis on the fact that even the youngest child can be a helper. This picture is certainly illustrating that. Also, it's also a little reminder about tomorrow's topic, working hard.

Being Humble

I have the above image listed in one of my pictures folders as "BG children" because it's the image I chose to put on the cover of Bright Gems for His Crown years ago. I was delighted to see it on this Facebook page today, a lovely page I follow because of the many sweet pictures and art that you see there as well as well as great quotes. The page, "Life's Daily Treasures" chose a perfect verse for this picture, Eccl. 9:10 which expresses the need for us all to do whatever we do with all that we have.

However, today at our HCG Facebook page we have a theme, and it's humility. So I'm going to share that picture from the LDT page in a short bit, with a link to this blog post. Being humble is the theme for the day (every now and then we're going to have a theme to coincide with the morning Bright Gems prayer), as the date is the 20th and the Bright Gems topic for Day 20 is "Being Humble." I would like folks to remember, if they don't have the book, that each particular topic has three separate devotions, one for each of the three months, depending on when the book is started. So, I thought it would be nice to copy here the introductory thoughts for Day 20, written to the children. Remember also, the introductory thoughts are to be read for each of the three devotionals:

"Now we have some thoughts to share about being humble.  God tells us in His Word that we must be humble.  To be humble means that you do not think too highly of yourself. Yes, we know that you are yet a child. You probably feel that we do not need to tell you to be humble. And yes, we know that Jesus once said that people should humble themselves like little children. But that does not mean that children are never proud. What Jesus was saying was that grown-ups should have simple faith, like children often do. But when God teaches in the Bible that people should be humble rather than proud, He is talking about children too. So today, let's think more about this." ~ From Bright Gems for His Crown

Yes, our children do indeed to learn humility like the rest of us. Let's teach them, shall we? And I'm sure that you and I both know that all our teaching is in vain if it doesn't include our example.

Lovingly,
Maxine, a/k/a Nanna

Sunday After Sunday

"Honoring the Lord, Sunday after Sunday, will help us to follow Him on our journey to Heaven. And when God's children someday reach Heaven, it will be like a Sabbath that has no end." ~ Day 31, Month 2 devotional, Bright Gems for His Crown by Maxine Randall.

Being Thankful

It's a rather sad thing, but one thing lots of people are noticing these days is that people are not as thankful as they used to be. Perhaps it's because we have too much? This is especially true if you live in a country like America where food and clothing and other things are more plentiful.

I hope you are teaching you children about the importance of gratefulness to God and others. The current excerpt from our Bright Gems book is the one from the Day 23 devotionals on being thankful. We hope you'll read it and be encouraged to commit to instilling this important quality of character in your youngsters.

Childhood Devotions

How important is it to instill in our children a love for the Word of God? How important is it that they grow into adulthood having firmly established that the precious Word is a vital part of their lives? We at Speakable Gifts believe this is indeed a top priority in the raising of our children and we further believe that establishing a daily time for devotions is a primary means that can be used by God to accomplish this. If you would read my article entitled "A Case for Daily Devotions in Childhood" you'll understand better how we feel about this.

Also, we're excited to tell you that for a limited time, in honor of Cyber Monday which we missed, our child's devotional book Bright Gems for His Crown will be selling for only $8.50. That's a savings of $3.00 off our regular price!! And not only THAT, but for a short time only there will be free shipping on all retail orders, no minimum order amount. Now is that generous of us or not??

Please let this be known if you would, especially the offer on the devotional book. Perhaps it would be a nice gift to give to some of the children who are dear to you, while at the same time having spiritual implications for their future.

Many blessings,
Maxine

Setting Things Up

I like Blogger's new template designer, and it's just in time for this new blog! We've put together a design which we think is just right for what we're all about--hope you like it too. We're working on setting up the new pages, including six of the seven "Speakables." We've decided that our Child of Courage writing activity will now be one of the categories on this site instead of a page, so that we can pick up stories from the Voice of the Martyrs site on different occasions and they can be archived here.

You will see the tabs for Speakables at the top. One is a general explanation, the rest will be the writing activities themselves. I don't know how often they'll get changed, it depends on so many factors. We just hope they'll be useful to folks from time to time. But we HOPE to be able to have another writing contest in the not too distant future. We enjoy them as much as the children do.

The Gems for Bright Gems is at the page with the tab entitled "Gems" (of course), and I hope to follow the same schedule of changing that one bi-monthly. If you're not familiar with the Gems devotional activity, click on the tab!

Also, we have one more page that we hope you'll read or have your kids read. It's the "A Gift" tab, which you might agree is appropriate for an SG site. But the gift talked about on that page is one of greater value than anything we offer for sale as a company. Please go read it when you can.

I guess that's it for now. I'll be back to say more after we have all the pages up.
